To the spring

For health, beauty, and strength. And the delights that we so desperately need. Located in the Sądecki Beskids, the hospitable Krynica-Zdrój is waiting – just for you.
Up and down
In tune with the quickening beat of the heart. The effort needed to conquer a peak is understood only by those who’ve been rewarded, at least once, with the chance to gaze down at the world from above. Next to Krynica--Zdrój stands Jaworzyna (also known as Jaworzyna Krynicka), 1,114 metres above sea level, reachable via two trails and offering a panoramic view of the Tatras. The town is also embraced by Krzyżowa Mountain
and the renowned Parkowa Mountain, which is to Krynica-Zdrój what Gubałówka is to Zakopane.

White madness
There are six ski resorts in the Krynica-Zdrój municipality. Both experienced skiers and those looking to make their first ski runs or snowboard moves will find their snowy paradise here. Krynica-Zdrój is home to one of the longest illuminated ski trails in Poland, stretching over 2.6 km and starting high atop Jaworzyna.

Krynica-Zdrój has hosted many notable figures, including Jan Kiepura, Helena Modrzejewska, Ludwik Solski, Gabriela Zapolska, and Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński, who enjoyed both brief and extended stays.
The power of waters
The healing properties of Krynica’s springs were already recognised in the 18th century and confirmed by scientific research during the same period. The first wooden mineral water pump room, “Słotwinka”, built in 1806, is now the oldest building in the city and can be found in Słotwiński Park. Other such landmarks include the Łazienki Borowinowe from 1881 and the Stare Łazienki Mineralne, constructed between 1863 and 1866. Today, Krynica-Zdrój is a large spa and sanatorium treatment centre, where mineral waters are used to treat diseases of the digestive, urinary, and circulatory systems.
Picture-perfect villas
Built for spa guests in the 19th and early 20th centuries, these villas reveal their charm to those strolling along Dietl Boulevard, one of the most renowned areas of the town. Often wooden and multi-coloured, with enchanting names like “White Rose”, “White Eagle”, or “Hungarian Crown”, they capture one's attention and bring to mind the days when they served as guesthouses for the spa’s social elite.

In the world of naive art
Different, but not lesser. The “Romanówka” villa houses the Nikifor Museum, dedicated to a Lemko primitivist painter who first appeared in Krynica’s marketplace during the interwar period. Nikifor could neither read nor write fluently, had poor hearing, and suffered from a significant speech impediment. He lived in poverty, earning his livelihood by selling watercolours to tourists. These paintings, created on pieces of cardboard or scraps of paper, depicted local landscapes, villas, churches, and self-portraits. His works eventually caught the attention of professional artists, and through their efforts, the art of this man with an invented name gained recognition in Poland and around the world.

Name
In Lemko, Крениця (Krzenycze), in Polish currently Krynica-Zdrój. The name of this locality, which became a town in 1911, has been changed several times. In 2002, the “Zdrój” component was reintroduced to emphasise its spa character and to avoid confusion with Krynica Morska, located in the north of the country. The words “krynica” and “zdrój” are synonymous.
