The joy of participating in all the most important events promoting Polish cinema is combined with careful tracking of exceptional debuts, emerging talents, and the search for the most interesting productions, under the baton of outstanding directors and filmmakers. The joy of participating in all the most important events promoting Polish cinema is combined with careful tracking of exceptional debuts, emerging talents, and the search for the most interesting productions, under the baton of outstanding directors and filmmakers.
And one must admit that the brand, as a sponsor of outstanding cultural events, has great intuition! At the 47th edition of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Golden Lions went to Agnieszka Smoczynska’s English-language debut “The Silent Twins”, starring Tamara Lawrance and Letitia Wright. Dr Irena Eris is a partner of the film. Our readers will surely remember that the cover of the previous issue of Sense of Beauty magazine featured the amazing Letitia Wright, who created such an intense and memorable performance in the film, and the star of the issue was the film’s director, Agnieszka Smoczyńska, one of the most interesting personalities of the Polish film industry. Her English-language debut, presented in the prestigious Un Certain Regard competition at the Cannes Film Festival, met with an enthusiastic reception from audiences and critics.
The power of female cinema
Its appreciation for independent cinema made by women is slowly becoming inscribed in the brand’s DNA. Dr Irena Eris became involved in the production of a documentary about women in Bosnia, “Common Place”, by directors Karolina Anna Kuta and Patrycja Skorupska. Dr Irena Eris products were also present on the set of the film “Illusion”, the directorial feature debut of Marta Minorowicz, whose premiere screening took place during the 22nd Edition of the New Horizons IFF. Having regard to the philosophy followed by Agata Buzek, who plays the main role in the film, the vegan composition of the brand’s cosmetics used on the set to create the appearance of the characters, was confirmed at the Dr Irena Eris Centre for Science and Research. “Illusion” is about women who are determined and full of secrets. It tells the story of a mother who, in search of her missing daughter, begins her own increasingly irrational investigation, balancing on the border between the real and supernatural worlds. The jury particularly appreciated Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik’s performance, awarding her an individual prize for supporting female role.
On the red carpet
Held since 1974, the Polish Film Festival is one of the oldest film events in Europe. It has the status of a national film festival and is the most important Polish industry event. The festival has a key role in promoting culture, publicizing Polish film achievements and establishing the position and reception of Polish cinematography. Each year, the most remarkable Polish productions compete for Golden and Silver Lions, as well as a number of individual awards, and for the duration of the Festival Gdynia becomes a true capital of Polish cinema. As every year, during the 47th edition of the festival, of which the brand was the main partner, in the Beauty Zones organized by Dr Irena Eris, a team of professional makeup artists took care of the professional makeup of the participants for the premieres and debates and were responsible for creating their Hollywood look during the Grand Finale Gala.
Long-awaited premieres
Dr Irena Eris was also a partner of Polish premieres at this year’s New Horizons IFF. The latest edition of the celebration of Polish cinematography featured Polish productions presented at Cannes, long-awaited premieres of new films, and the highly anticipated Agnieszka Holland’s retrospective. The Wrocław festival opened with the film “IO”, directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, which was awarded the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. – “We are very pleased to have Dr Irena Eris among the partners of the New Horizons Festival. The brand has once again become a patron of Polish cinema – the films of daring debutants and recognized authors, showing their works at the world’s most important events, such as Cannes,” says Marcin Pieńkowski, director of the New Horizons IFF.
