The festival of the famous tenor is one of the oldest in Poland. The main objective of its initiator, Stefan Półchłopek, was to keep alive the memory of Jan Kiepura. Krynica seemed to be the perfect place for this, since in the 30s of the 20th century Jan Kiepura built here “Patria” – a large and modern hotel. This year’s festival is going to be a real feast, as on August 15 it is the 50th anniversary of Kiepura’s death. On that occasion, an outstanding concert “Aria for Krynica” dedicated to the memory of Jan Kiepura will be held. From August 13 for the next 8 days over 30 events will take place presenting different types of singing: concerts, performances, meetings, and singing workshop for youth. The festival’s stage will host over 400 artists from Poland and abroad, including several dozen opera singers and 8 orchestras, as well as a galaxy of stars like Artur Ruciński.
