Associations with France mainly include timeless elegance and charm. In the 2017/18 season, the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk will take us on an inspiring journey to France. The new artistic season brings new genres and plays with current trends. Timeless classics will prevail in the repertoire.
The new opera season opens with a bodacious and novel story about “The Last Judgment” by Hans Memling, which, during its troubled journey through the world, reached the Paris Louvre museum. The holiday season will open with the most beautiful winter tale, the ballet “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” produced by the acclaimed choreographer François Mauduit. The new calendar year will begin with the January premiere of the distinguished “Duchess” directed by Krystyna Janda – a story of a young noblewoman in love with the aristocracy. In the spring, the Baltic Opera will host “The Pearl Fishers” composed by Georges Bizet and an operetta “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach, as well as French music concerts and galas. This interesting offer will please the most demanding audiences, making the Baltic Opera a musical flagship of the Tricity and the Pomerania region.
